Biography
Gail Gilmore is a writer with an interest in the connection between humans and animals and in the kinds of questions that engage both head and heart. Her articles on the subject of missing dogs have appeared in The Dodo. Following a career at Harvard University’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences—where she helped undergraduates navigate the ever-changing pathways of careers in arts, entertainment, and journalism—and side gigs as an actor and musician in a women’s Brazilian/AfroCuban percussion band, she left the city and moved to the mountains, then the seacoast, of New Hampshire. She lives with her spouse and two rescue dogs from Puerto Rico, and is the author of the memoir Dog Church, which was named a finalist for the 2017 Rainbow Awards’ Dirk Vanden Award for LGBT Biography/Memoir, and the creative nonfiction book Solomon: One Dog's Improbable, Two-Year, Thousand-Mile Journey to Find Home. She is currently working on her first novel.
